Our range of Single-use fine instruments including our straight and curved Vannas Scissors and DeBakey Atraumatic Dissecting Forceps were used at The British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Cadaveric Masterclass in Nerve Surgery at The Manchester Surgical Skills Centre 15th June.

The Masterclass provided an excellent opportunity for Consultants and Senior Trainees to trial a variety of our products on procedures including Brachial Plexus Dissection, Nerve transfers (including Oberlin & Bangkok), Tendon transfers for Radial, Median & Ulnar nerves and Nerve grafting using autograft and allograft.

Each of the 9 stations had a Nerve surgery expert including Maurizio Calcagni, Senior Consultant from University Hospital Zurich who complemented the choice of instruments.

Prash Jesudason, Consultant Hand & Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales said “The Barraquer Needle Holder is beautiful. The Vannas Curve Scissors fit well in the hand and are comfortable to use. Single-use gets around the issue of magnetisation which happens after multiple usage”.

Equally Mr Anuj Mishra Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgeon from the University Hospital of South Manchester said “I’m delighted – even the micro instruments were amazing!”

Course Convenor Zaf Naqui, Consultant Hand, Wrist & Upper Limb Surgeon said “All the delegates and faculty have been happy with the quality of the instruments today.”

With any fine dissection work you want instrument reliability, so having the confidence in a product to perform as you expect is paramount. At DTR Medical we appreciate how important precision instruments are and can provide the surgeon with the reassurance of consistent quality every time.
