‘vCJD’ research study prompts UK Health Agencies to consider risk posed by cross contamination by surgical instruments

A recent study of 32,000 anonymous samples from appendectomies found 16 which tested positive for Variant Creutzfeldt – Jakob disease (vCJD) – a degenerative brain disease related to BSE otherwise known as “Mad Cow Disease”.
