DTR Medical are pleased to announce their recent collaboration with BioComposites experts from ‘BEACON’ in researching sustainable organic materials for products.

BEACON is led by Aberystwyth University in collaboration with partners at Bangor and Swansea Universities, backed by the European Regional Development Fund.

The collaboration initially focused on material science, exploring options for using plant-based bio-polymer content in place of existing plastics currently used in specific product ranges

A Life-Cycle analysis was carried out to highlight the potential environmental benefits of using alternative materials as well as to identify potential environmental ‘hotspots’ with the results providing useful insight into the potential benefits of such a change to be considered.

Working with BEACON serves to highlight DTR Medical’s commitment to producing medical products in the most sustainable manner possible.
